April 24 and 25, Santa Marta, Colombia
The undersigned organizations call for the Conference for Fossil Fuel-Free Territories to strengthen, coordinate, and expand territorial struggles against extractivism, and to build an action plan that gathers and enhances strategies to prevent, halt, close, repair, and move away from fossil fuels.
This call comes as we witness a worsening of the civilizational crisis, caused by a fossil fuel capitalism that has jeopardized the sustainability of life on the planet. We are living in a new era of geopolitical disputes and wars for the division of the world, within the context of a crisis of multilateralism, which compels us to rethink the energy transition in times of chaotic capitalism and corporate capture of governments and international institutions.
To defeat the neo-fascist and warmongering forces that threaten life on the planet, it is essential to shift the balance of power from below, from the people and their territories.
To participate in person in the Conference for Fossil Fuel-Free Territories and share your analyses, experiences, and mobilization strategies for the collective construction of an international declaration and action plan, we invite you to fill out the following form. This will allow you to stay informed and participate in the discussion processes before and during our in-person meeting on April 24 and 25 in Santa Marta, Colombia. See the program.
To move away from fossil fuels and change the capitalist system, we need spaces for grassroots organizing that highlight the systemic changes we need, not false solutions.
Let us strengthen and coordinate territorial struggles against extractivism, forging a world of peace, social justice, sovereignty of the people, and harmony with Nature.
